If you’re looking for fun activities for your child this summer, The LIFT Center will again offer summer camps for elementary and middle school students beginning in June. Registration is open to any child in those age groups, and enrollment in Abilene ISD is not required.
The registration fee for the Maker Space Camp is $40, while the fee for the other two camps is $75 apiece. Lunch will be provided for campers at all three camps. Abilene ISD students who qualify for free and reduced lunch will have the fee reduced.
Three camps will be offered:
“This IS Rocket Science” Maker Space Camps
June 4–6 and June 11–13
9 a.m.–12 p.m. or 1–4 p.m.
Current 2nd–4th graders
Participants will explore the basics of rocket science by constructing rockets out of ordinary household materials and conducting experiments focused on Newton’s three laws of motion.
LIFT Center Career Exploration Camp
May 28–30
9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Current 5th–7th graders
Students will explore hands-on learning opportunities in automotive, carpentry, coding, communications, culinary arts, cybersecurity, digital communications, electrical, engineering, graphic design, information technology, and welding.
LIFT Center Career Academies
June 4–6
9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Current 5th–7th graders
Students will explore hands-on learning opportunities in the career cluster of their choice: Industrial Trades, Culinary Arts, Technology, Engineering and Robotics, or Design and Media.
